A week or so a go, news editor Kim Jackson was working on a page when he suddenly burst out  laughing and called me over.

“Steve,” he said. “Check out this guy in this photo. He looks like he escaped from a Crosby, Stills and Nash album. Or maybe Buffalo Springfield.”

Kim was dead on. With a heavy coat and a kind of high plains drifter hat, he looked like Stephen Stills in the middle photo spread of CSN’s debut album, the one where, on the cover, they’re all sitting on that couch outside the house (you boomers likely know what I’m talking about).

The combination of that pic and Kim’s comment made both us laugh loudly, particularly me, to the point where editor Hasso Hering finally had to come over and see what was so funny.

“You won’t think it’s funny, Hasso,” I was able to stammer amid my guffaws, knowing our boss likely had never heard of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Still, he took a look for himself. “What’s funny about that?” he asked, before turning his attention to me. “Come on Lundy, get a grip on yourself.”

By this time I have finally gotten a grip on myself, thank you very much, and my first order of business is: Listing the Top 7 CSN songs (including the ones featuring Neil Young, making them, of course, CSNY). Here we go:

1) Carry On.

2) Helplessly Hoping.

3) Woodstock.

4) Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.

5) Teach Your Children.

6) Southern Cross.

7) You Don’t Have to Cry.
