As mentioned yesterday, Monday night represented the season finale for my old-guy baseball team; just in case you were interested in what our particular collection of middle-aged ballplayers look like, here’s a team pic:

- A couple notables: Bottom right is West Albany legend Rich Sipe, best all-around player I’ve ever been associated with, and the huge guy in the back is Gary Bradley, who lettered three times apiece in football, basketball and baseball at McKay High School; I’ve taken to calling him Chip Hilton.
Anyway, driving in my pickup to the game, tuned in to rock and roll as I always am (except for on morning commutes, when I listen to NPR), I was energized, and in fact inspired, by hearing:
Heartbreaker, soul shaker
I’ve been told about you
Steamroller, midnight stroller
What they’ve been saying must be true
Red-hot mama
Velvet charmer
Time’s come to pay your dues
The inspiration, in case you were wondering, was for this week’s Top 7: Best bands who share a name with one place or another. Here we go:

- 1. Boston.
- 2. Styx.

- 5. Buffalo Springfield.

- 6. America.

- 7. Nazareth. Bonus points to all of you who recognized the opening lyrics to “Hair of the Dog” and knew the song was by Nazareth.

Alabama would be a good choice as well. Not really a rock band, but they've been around enough to have some cred.

I'm glad Boston is numero uno. No song is more inspiring than "More than a Feeling."
